Intended Audience: Curriculum Directors and District-level Administrators
Overview:
- Transitioning to the Common Core Standards with the Indiana multi-year transition plan
- Update on the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) Consortium
- Strategies for utilizing Indiana’s Instructional and Assessment Guidance documents
- Discussion on the requirements of Indiana Academic Standards versus the Common Core State Standards
- Development of a district-wide action plan

Overview:
- Update on the PARCC content framework and additional resources
- Student achievement data and assessments
- Requirements of PARCC assessments verses the ISTEP+ assessment

| Session III |
Intended Audience: Curriculum Directors and District-level Administrators
Mathematics
- Learn to perform a close reading of the Standards for Mathematical Practice to develop a clear
understanding of the content and skills and embedded in the standards
- Learn to integrate the Standards for Mathematical Practice into the Indiana Academic Standards for Mathematics
- Learn to integrate, instruct, and assess the recommended added CCSS math standards for 2011-12
- Learn to utilize a resource analysis tool to gauge degree of alignment of local resources to teach CCSS
English Language Arts
- Learn to perform a close reading of the literacy standards to develop a clear understanding
of the content and skills and embedded in the standards
- Discuss student behaviors associated with literacy standards at various grade levels
- Learn to integrate CCSS literacy requirements with the Indiana Academic Standards for English Language Arts
- Learn to integrate, instruct, and assess the recommended added CCSS English Language Arts standards for 2011-12
Aligning Classroom Assessments to CCSS Requirements
- Learn to develop instructionally sensitive classroom assessments
- Align assessments to Mathematics and English Language Arts content
- Align assessments to the levels of cognitive demand embedded within the CCSS
Action Planning
- Discuss district and building-level next steps in CCSS implementation
- Plan for next CCSS PD Sessions in Mathematics and English Language Arts
PARCC Update
- Provide any updates to the PARCC assessment
